Wooden racks filled with dazzling colored candy sticks and sugar dusted sanded candy drops have been beloved by candy connoisseurs for over 80 years. Gilliam continues to provide high quality, nostalgic treats that evoke memories of penny candy store shelves and crystal candy dishes.

In 1927, Clive Gilliam opened “The Candy Kitchen” in Paducah, Kentucky. An accomplished candy maker, Clive’s small town candy store was known for Hard Candy, Stick Candy, peanut brittle, and various candy bars. The high quality candy became so popular that Gilliam’s operation was forced to move several times into larger quarters. Despite the incredible growth of his company, Clive Gilliam retired and sold his business in 1944.

The sale of Gilliam’s company marked a shift in strategy, more products were introduced by new owners and candies ranging from caramels to taffy became extensions of the Gilliam brand. After changing hands several times over the years, Quality Candy Company had the incredible opportunity to take over the beloved candy tradition in 2003.

Quality Candy took the reins of Gilliam’s core group of products, the hard candy & stick candy that originally made the brand famous. Having a wealth of experience with stick candy, the addition of Gilliam’s products quickly made Quality the largest manufacturer of stick candy west of the Rocky Mountains.

Paying close attention to the art of quality candy making, and keeping the simple traditions from Clive Gilliam’s original company alive, Gilliam continues to provide a sweet walk down memory lane to candy customers across the country.
